Photoelectric Observations of Southern Cepheids in 2001
A total of 2097 photometric observations in the BVIc systemare presented for 117 Cepheids located in the southern hemisphere. Themain purpose of the photometry is to provide new epochs of maximumbrightness for studying Cepheid period changes, as well as to establishcurrent light elements for the Cepheids.

A spectroscopic survey for lambda Bootis stars. II. The observational data
lambda Bootis stars comprise only a small number of all A-type stars andare characterized as nonmagnetic, Population i, late B to early F-typedwarfs which show significant underabundances of metals whereas thelight elements (C, N, O and S) are almost normal abundant compared tothe Sun. In the second paper on a spectroscopic survey for lambda Bootisstars, we present the spectral classifications of all program starsobserved. These stars were selected on the basis of their Strömgrenuvbybeta colors as lambda Bootis candidates. In total, 708 objects insix open clusters, the Orion OB1 association and the Galactic field wereclassified. In addition, 9 serendipity non-candidates in the vicinity ofour program stars as well as 15 Guide Star Catalogue stars were observedresulting in a total of 732 classified stars. The 15 objects from theGuide Star Catalogue are part of a program for the classification ofapparent variable stars from the Fine Guidance Sensors of the HubbleSpace Telescope. A grid of 105 MK standard as well as ``pathological''stars guarantees a precise classification. A comparison of our spectralclassification with the extensive work of Abt & Morrell(\cite{Abt95}) shows no significant differences. The derived types are0.23 +/- 0.09 (rms error per measurement) subclasses later and 0.30 +/-0.08 luminosity classes more luminous than those of Abt & Morrell(\cite{Abt95}) based on a sample of 160 objects in common. The estimatederrors of the means are +/- 0.1 subclasses. The characteristics of oursample are discussed in respect to the distribution on the sky, apparentvisual magnitudes and Strömgren uvbybeta colors. Study of Neglected Variable Stars Classified as Type II Cepheids
Four variable stars classified as Type II Cepheids have been studiedpartly based on new photometry and the Hipparcos photometric data. Thecorrect period is derived for V341 Ara and NW Pav and it is pointed outthat RR Mic and V1711 Sgr do not belong to Type II Cepheids, insteadthey may be semi-regular variables. The cycle length of theirvariability is also determined.

The Southern Vilnius Photometric System. IV - The E region standard stars
This paper is the fourth in a series on the extension of the Vilniusphotometric system to the Southern Hemisphere. Observations were made of60 stars in the Harvard Standard E regions to increase a set of standardstars.

The Southern Vilnius Photometric System. III. Observations of E and F Harvard Standard Regions, 47 TUC and Some Metal-Deficient Stars
The results of photoelectric photometry in the Vilnius system of 101southern stars in the areas E1--E4, E8, E9 and F1 as well as of somemetal deficient stars are presented. Photometrically determined spectraltypes and luminosity classes of these stars are also given.

A homogeneous catalog of new UBV and H-beta photometry of B- and A-type stars in and around the Scorpius-Centaurus OB association
B- and A-type stars in and near the Sco-Cen OB association areinvestigated with UBV and H-beta photometry to acquire data relevant tothe luminosity function of Sco-Cen. The measurements generally consistof two 10-s integrations of U, B, V, (W, N) filters, and theobservations are corrected iteratively for atmospheric extinction andinstrumental response. The data presented give the mean V magnitude,mean B-V, mean U-B, and the estimated uncertainties for these values.The catalog provides a homogeneous catalog of data for a large fieldwith stellar objects delineating membership to the association Sco-Cenand that affect the luminosity function of the aggregate.

Secondary UVBY standards in the Harvard E-regions
Photoelectric uvby photometry for 201 stars which are already UBV (RI)cstandards is presented. The photoelectric data are closely tied to theCousins uvby standards and the stars should be suitable for use asfainter (7-11 mag) secondary standards.

Secondary standards for the Stromgren UVBY system
Observations of 158 E region stars have been made in the Stromgrensystem, using the 46-cm reflector at Cape Town. They are mostly brighterthan eighth magnitude and are intended for use as secondary standardsfor the four-color system. The E region relative zero points are definedwith a precision of + or - 0.001 mag, and the internal standard errorsof the colors life between + or - 0.001 and + or - 0.002 mag.

UBV photometry of E region standard stars of intermediate brightness
Photometry data are given for 335 stars in the nine E regions.Observations were made using a photometer and filters on the 47 cmreflector at Cape Town. The stellar dispersions are summarized. Data arepresented in tabular form.

Behavior of lambda 2800 Mg II in stellar spectra
The results of measurements of the equivalent widths of the resonancedoublet of ionized magnesium lambda 2800 Mg II in the spectra of 51relatively faint stars, up to 10m, of the spectral classes B1-K5 arepresented. The observed material has been obtained by means of the spaceobservatory 'Orion 2'. Some regularities in the behavior of lambda 2800Mg II in stellar spectra have been revealed: wide and deep depression ofthe continuous spectra at 2800 A in F-G type stars; the presence of thedoublet lambda 2800 Mg II in the form of weak emission in the spectra ofcold stars (K2-K5); the presence both of the multiplet lambda 3080 Ti IIand the doublet lambda 2800 Mg II simultaneously either in emission - inthe late-type stars - or in absorption in earlier types; the existenceof combined profiles of lambda 2800 Mg II, i.e., a wide absorption linewith a weak emission in the center, in stars of the transitional class(G5-K0), etc. A well-defined empirical relationship between theequivalent width of lambda 2800 Mg II and the spectral class of the starhas been established.
