Rotational velocities of A-type stars in the northern hemisphere. II. Measurement of v sin i
This work is the second part of the set of measurements of v sin i forA-type stars, begun by Royer et al. (\cite{Ror_02a}). Spectra of 249 B8to F2-type stars brighter than V=7 have been collected at Observatoirede Haute-Provence (OHP). Fourier transforms of several line profiles inthe range 4200-4600 Å are used to derive v sin i from thefrequency of the first zero. Statistical analysis of the sampleindicates that measurement error mainly depends on v sin i and thisrelative error of the rotational velocity is found to be about 5% onaverage. The systematic shift with respect to standard values fromSlettebak et al. (\cite{Slk_75}), previously found in the first paper,is here confirmed. Comparisons with data from the literature agree withour findings: v sin i values from Slettebak et al. are underestimatedand the relation between both scales follows a linear law ensuremath vsin inew = 1.03 v sin iold+7.7. Finally, thesedata are combined with those from the previous paper (Royer et al.\cite{Ror_02a}), together with the catalogue of Abt & Morrell(\cite{AbtMol95}). The resulting sample includes some 2150 stars withhomogenized rotational velocities. Based on observations made atObservatoire de Haute Provence (CNRS), France. On the HIPPARCOS photometry of chemically peculiar B, A, and F stars
The Hipparcos photometry of the Chemically Peculiar main sequence B, A,and F stars is examined for variability. Some non-magnetic CP stars,Mercury-Manganese and metallic-line stars, which according to canonicalwisdom should not be variable, may be variable and are identified forfurther study. Some potentially important magnetic CP stars are noted.Tables 1, 2, and 3 are available only in electronic form at the CDS viaanonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html

The Tokyo PMC catalog 90-93: Catalog of positions of 6649 stars observed in 1990 through 1993 with Tokyo photoelectric meridian circle
The sixth annual catalog of the Tokyo Photoelectric Meridian Circle(PMC) is presented for 6649 stars which were observed at least two timesin January 1990 through March 1993. The mean positions of the starsobserved are given in the catalog at the corresponding mean epochs ofobservations of individual stars. The coordinates of the catalog arebased on the FK5 system, and referred to the equinox and equator ofJ2000.0. The mean local deviations of the observed positions from theFK5 catalog positions are constructed for the basic FK5 stars to comparewith those of the Tokyo PMC Catalog 89 and preliminary Hipparcos resultsof H30.

Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue.
We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star, when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

The A and Am-Fm stars. I - The abundances of Li, Al, Si, and Fe
An observational investigation of 25 A and Am stars is presented inwhich a model-atmosphere abundance analysis is used to determine thephotospheric abundances of Li, Al, Si, and Fe. Results of the presentobservations are combined with the observations of Hyades by Burkhart etal. (1989) to develop homogeneous results from a large sample. All ofthe elements except Li are found to be constant as a function oftemperature for Am stars, and Al and Fe are moderately enhanced forA4-F1 stars. The abundance range of Li can be twice that of Al, Si, andFe in Am normal stars, and other stars exhibit Li deficiencies that areinterpreted as indicative of weak evolution. The abundances of Li, Ca,and Zr are also considered in terms of diffusion theory for Am stars, and references to the hydrogen-convection and diffusion zones are made.

Li I-resonance-doublet observations and the abundance of lithium in AM and Delta Del stars
In a sample of a few Am, Delta Delphini, and reference main sequence Fstars, the LiI resonance line at 6707 A has been observed. In Am stars,Li may be overabundant, normal, or underabundant with respect to thecosmic abundance; the range is as large as two orders of magnitude, andthe abundance dependence on temperature does not seem simple. In DeltaDelphini stars, Li may be slightly overabundant, normal, orunderabundant, with an abundance range of about two orders of magnitude. It is asserted that both components of the double-line spectroscopicbinary Am star HR 8293 are overabundant in Li. Microscopic diffusionprocesses, possibly connected with mass loss, lead to normal, over-, orunderabundances of Li for the Am stars.

Measurement of light deflection during the solar eclipse of February 15, 1961
The differences in the coordinates of 12 stars near the solar disk on aphotographic plate obtained on Monte Conero, Italy during the solareclipse of February 15, 1961 (Schmiedler, 1961) and those on identicalplates exposed at the same site in April 1961 are investigatedanalytically. The data-reduction procedures are explained in detail, andthe data and results are presented in tables and graphs. The distortionon the eclipse plate is attributed to the low position of the sun(leading to anomalous refraction); a general expression including allterms through the second order is derived to account for the coordinatedifferences; and the gravitational deflection at the solar limb isestimated as 1.98 + or - 0.46 arcsec, in excess of the value (1.75arcsec) predicted by relativity theory.

Lists of photometric AM candidates
The Geneva photometric m parameter (Nicolet and Cramer, 1982) is used inorder to select Am photometric candidates from the Rufener (1981)catalogue. Two lists are given, the first containing field stars and thesecond cluster stars. According to the photometric criteria thediffusion process probably responsible for the Am phenomenon takes placerather quickly as Am candidates are present in young clusters. It isconfirmed that the phenomenon is enhanced by low rotational velocity andhigh metallicity. The age seems to slightly affect the Am phenomenon.

Photoelectric observations of lunar occultations. XII
Occultation observations of 414 events observed between 6 July 1979 and4 September 1980 with the 0.76-m telescope of McDonald Observatory arereported. Timings and data on double stars are given. Angular diameterinformation in six cases is included. The stars concerned with their runnumbers are: SAO 161754 (5270); 94027 (Alpha Tau) (5319, 5381, 5454);159370 (Gamma Lib) (5325, 5571); 162413 (43 Sgr) (5332); 97472 (3 Cnc)(5414); and 93955 (Theta Tau) (5445).

Metallicism and pulsation - The marginal metallic line stars
Evidence is presented that HR 4594 and HR 8210 are pulsating marginal Amstars. It is suggested that (1) classical Am stars do not pulsate, (2)evolved Am stars may pulsate, and (3) marginal Am stars may pulsate. Itis further suggested that, within the Am domain, temperature, age, rotation, and pulsation are sufficient to determine whether a star willbe Am, marginal Am, or spectrally normal.
