The PASTEL catalogue of stellar parameters
Aims: The PASTEL catalogue is an update of the [Fe/H] catalogue, published in 1997 and 2001. It is a bibliographical compilation ofstellar atmospheric parameters providing (T_eff, log g, [Fe/H])determinations obtained from the analysis of high resolution, highsignal-to-noise spectra, carried out with model atmospheres. PASTEL alsoprovides determinations of the one parameter T_eff based on variousmethods. It is aimed in the future to provide also homogenizedatmospheric parameters and elemental abundances, radial and rotationalvelocities. A web interface has been created to query the catalogue onelaborated criteria. PASTEL is also distributed through the CDS databaseand VizieR. Methods: To make it as complete as possible, the mainjournals have been surveyed, as well as the CDS database, to findrelevant publications. The catalogue is regularly updated with newdeterminations found in the literature. Results: As of Febuary2010, PASTEL includes 30151 determinations of either T_eff or (T_eff,log g, [Fe/H]) for 16 649 different stars corresponding to 865bibliographical references. Nearly 6000 stars have a determination ofthe three parameters (T_eff, log g, [Fe/H]) with a high qualityspectroscopic metallicity. The catalogue can be queried through a dedicated web interface at http://pastel.obs.u-bordeaux1.fr/.It is also available in electronic form at the Centre de DonnéesStellaires in Strasbourg (http://vizier.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/VizieR?-source=B/pastel),at the CDS via anonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) orvia http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/A+A/515/A111

Effective temperature scale and bolometric corrections from 2MASS photometry
We present a method to determine effective temperatures, angularsemi-diameters and bolometric corrections for population I and II FGKtype stars based on V and 2MASS IR photometry. Accurate calibration isaccomplished by using a sample of solar analogues, whose averagetemperature is assumed to be equal to the solar effective temperature of5777 K. By taking into account all possible sources of error we estimateassociated uncertainties to better than 1% in effective temperature andin the range 1.0-2.5% in angular semi-diameter for unreddened stars.Comparison of our new temperatures with other determinations extractedfrom the literature indicates, in general, remarkably good agreement. These results suggest that the effective temperaure scale of FGK starsis currently established with an accuracy better than 0.5%-1%. Theapplication of the method to a sample of 10 999 dwarfs in the Hipparcoscatalogue allows us to define temperature and bolometric correction (Kband) calibrations as a function of (V-K), [m/H] and log g. Bolometriccorrections in the V and K bands as a function of T_eff, [m/H] and log gare also given. We provide effective temperatures, angularsemi-diameters, radii and bolometric corrections in the V and K bandsfor the 10 999 FGK stars in our sample with the correspondinguncertainties.

The Pul-3 catalogue of 58483 stars in the Tycho-2 system
A catalogue of positions and proper motions of 58483 stars (Pul-3) hasbeen constructed at the Pulkovo observatory. The Pul-3 is based on theresults of measurements of photographic plates with galaxies (Deutsch'splan). All plates were taken using the Pulkovo Normal Astrograph (thefirst epoch is in the 1950s and the second epoch is in the 1970s).The Pul-3 catalogue contains stars of mainly 12 to 16.5 mag in 146fields with galaxies in the declination zone from -5o to+85o. The Tycho-2 has been used as a reference catalogue. The mean epoch of the Pul-3 is 1963.25. The internal positional accuracyof the Pul-3 catalogue at the mean epoch of observations is ±80mas. The accuracy of the proper motions is mostly within ±3mas/yr to ±12 mas/yr. Comparisons of the Pul-3 with Tycho-2 andARIHIP have been done at the mean epoch of the Pul-3. The Pul-3 externalpositional accuracy relative to Tycho-2 is ±150 mas.The catalogue is only available in electronic form at the CDS viaanonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/A+A/418/357

Spectroscopy of Hot Stars in the Galactic Halo. III. Analysis of a Large Sample of Field Horizontal-Branch and Other A-Type Stars
We present results from an analysis of medium-resolution spectroscopyand UBV photometry for a sample of 1121 A-type stars in the halo (anddisk) of the Galaxy. A previously developed calibration technique isused to assign estimates of effective temperature, surface gravity, andstellar metal abundance, as parameterized by [Fe/H]. Radial velocitiesare reported with an accuracy of ~10 km s^-1. Distance estimates areobtained for the stars with well-determined luminosity classes. Notethat although we refer to ``A-type'' stars, which dominate the presentsample, the present data set includes roughly 100 stars of laterspectral types, as a result of the temperature range we have chosen toexplore in this paper (6000 K<=T_eff<=10,000 K). Included in thehot star sample are 444 stars we classify as field horizontal-branchstars, 416 we classify as main-sequence-gravity A-type (or slightlylater) stars (including stars that are likely members of the bluemetal-poor population, the so-called BMPs), 140 stars we classify aslikely metallic-line (Am) or peculiar (Ap) stars, and 121 stars thatcannot be unambiguously classified based on the present data.Examination of the distributions in metallicity and velocity indicatesthat the field horizontal-branch and main-sequence A-type samples arequite distinct; hence we expect only a modest amount ofcross-contamination between the subsamples. We identify 58 RR Lyraecandidates among the hot star sample, based on incompatibilities intheir photometric and spectroscopic data. There are 19 stars in thesample that have been previously classified as RR Lyrae variables, andone additional star that had been previously suggested as a variable, though not necessarily of the RR Lyrae class. There are 115 stars in thesample that were previously classified as BMPs by Preston, Beers, &Shectman, most of which fall into the main-sequence A-type category, but10 of which are found among the Am/Ap classifications. Furthermore, 53of stars previously considered to be BMPs are shown by our analysis tohave metal abundances [Fe/H]>-1, which calls their identificationwith this population somewhat into question.

An astrometric catalogue for the area of Coma Berenices
A catalogue of stellar positions and proper motions down to the 14thphotographic magnitude in the area of the open cluster in Coma Berenicesis compiled from data of 12 different sources. The accuracy of theproper motion data is comparable to that of the Hipparcos Catalogue. Thecatalogue Table 5 is only available in electronic form at the CDS viaanonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html

GPM1 - a catalog of absolute proper motions of stars with respect to galaxies
The description of the first version of the General Compiled Catalogueof Absolute Proper Motions (GPM1) for a sample of HIPPARCOS stars, derived with respect to galaxies within the plan called Catalogue ofFaint Stars (KSZ, Deutch 1952), is presented. The principal aim of theGPM1 construction was to provide absolute proper motions of stars todetermine the rotation of the HIPPARCOS system. The GPM1 cataloguecontains 977 HIPPARCOS Input Catalogue stars with V magnitudes $5^m -11^m in 180 fields north of -25 degrees of declination. The accuracy ofthe proper motions is 8 mas/yr (milliarcseconds per year). Comparison ofproper motions of GPM1 with those of the PPM and ACRS was performed andanalyzed with respect to systematic errors caused by spurious rotationof the FK5 system. The standard errors show that the rotation may bedetermined with an accuracy better than 1 mas/yr. Catalog is onlyavailable in electronic form at the CDS via anonymous ftpcdsarc.u-strasbg.fr or ftp 130.79.128.5.

Member stars of the open cluster Mel 111 in Coma Berenices
Proper motions of AGK3 stars in a 6 x 6 deg field centered on the opencluster Mel 111 in Coma Berenices have been used for selecting starswhich are probable members of the cluster. Available photometric dataand radial velocities have been used to refine the selection. Seventeennew candidates are proposed.

Photoelectric UBV photometry of northern stars from the HK objective-prism survey. II
Photoelectric UBV photometry is presented for a sample of 165 starsdrawn from the extension of the HK objective-prism/interference-filtersurvey of Beers, Preston, and Shectman to the northern galactichemisphere. These results are part of continuing follow-up observationsof candidate metal-deficient and horizontal-branch field stars and otherinteresting stars identified in the survey. A complete set ofphotometric observations is now available for three of the25-square-degree survey fields. The complete photometric sample of 299northern HK candidates obtained to date contains on order 90main-sequence turnoff, subgiant, and giant stars with (Fe/H) of lessthan or equal to -1.0, 50 field blue horizontal-branch stars, and 30stars with the photometric properties of field-blue stragglers.

Photoelectric UBV photometry of northern stars from the HK objective-prism survey
Photoelectric photometry is presented for a sample of 139 halo starsdrawn from an extension of the HK objective-prism survey of Beers,Preston, and Shectman to the northern galactic hemisphere. Thecandidates for which photometry is reported were selected to span a widerange of types, but are dominated by stars classified as type AB, A, or'metal poor'.

Kinematics and properties of F stars near the North Galactic Pole. II - The isothermal disc
Radial velocities are given for about 550 photometrically-identifieddisk-population F stars lying within 15 deg of the North Galactic Pole. The overall radial and z-velocity distributions are found to be closelyGaussian, with corrected rms and mean z velocities of 11.3 + or - 0.6and -9.5 + or - 0.5 km/s, respectively. The isothermal kinematics of thepopulation are reflected in the constant velocity dispersion to a zdistance of 400 pc. No systematic variation of either the velocitydispersion or the stellar age with the metallicity-sensitive Stromgrendelta m1 index is noted over a range of ages up to 5 Gyr.

Meridian observations made in Brorfelde (Copenhagen University Observatory) 1975-76.
This catalogue presents positions for selected faint stars mainly fromAGK3 observed with the 7" transit circle at Brorfelde. The stars aredistributed in 43 selected areas around radio sources and are suitableas reference stars for measuring the optical counterparts to the radiosources. The obscr 'itioi cre carried out from 1975.16 to 1976.04, andevery star was observed at least two times giving a m.s.e. of "13 forthe catalogue positions given in the FK4 system. These positions usedtogether with AGK3 proper motions will in the period 1975 to 1980 have am.s.e. at the epoch ranging from `:13 to `:15, which is less than halfof what is expected when using AGK3 positions. Key words: transit circle- catalogue of positions
